Food For Life projects span the globe. While they each focus on local aims and objectives unique to every project, they are all driven by the same core principles:
Welfare: Provide pure plant-based meals to anyone who is disadvantaged, malnourished, a victim of disaster.
Hospitality: Revive the ancient Vedic culture of spiritual hospitality, teaching through example that spiritual equality exists among all beings.
Non-Violence: Reduce the number of animals slaughtered for food by giving as many people as possible the higher taste of “karma-free” plant-based meals.
Health: Teach the value of plant-based meals for improving the health of body and mind.
Education: Educate others on the art and science of food yoga as an integral part of consciousness development.
Animal Advocacy: Support animal rescue projects as a powerful way to demonstrate the equality of all life through direct experience.
Food Not Bombs is an all-volunteer global movement that protests poverty and war in the most delicious way – by serving free vegan food that would otherwise be thrown away by grocery stores.
The group is committed to serving only meat-free meals, and works on the basis that food is a right, “not a privilege.” Explaining its name, Food Not Bombs is also dedicated to nonviolence.
Furthermore, in a bid to fight waste, each Food Not Bombs chapter sources surplus food from grocery stores, bakeries, and markets and prepares community meals which are then served, free of charge, to anyone who is hungry. Its meals are sustainably sourced, nutritious, and served with kindness.
Through services such as meal shares, food demos, clothing drives, and mentorship, we work in areas all around the country to help make veganism accessible to communities in need. We provide networks of support and build strong empowered communities within the areas that we serve.
Through our regularly scheduled meal shares, we provide vegan food to anyone in need of a warm meal. In addition to chili, we now offer a wide range of vegan meal options to best cater to our communities needs.
Food Empowerment Project seeks to create a more just and sustainable world by recognizing the power of one’s food choices. We encourage healthy food choices that reflect a more compassionate society by spotlighting the abuse of animals on farms, the depletion of natural resources, unfair working conditions for produce workers, and the unavailability of healthy foods in low-income areas.
By making informed choices, we can prevent injustices against animals, people, and the environment. We also work to discourage negligent corporations from pushing unhealthy foods into low-income areas and empower people to make healthier choices by growing their own fruits and vegetables. In all of our work, Food Empowerment Project seeks specifically to empower those with the fewest resources.
Plenty Food Netherlands Foundation consists of 100% volunteers. Efficiency is very important to us. That is one of the reasons why we only offer plant development aid. And in this we are unique in the Netherlands.
Vegetable food aid is 5 to 10 times more efficient than animal food aid.
Worldwide there are more than 800 million people who do not have enough food. This is in stark contrast to the increasing meat consumption of the Western world. For every kilo of meat, an average of 7 kilos of vegetable food (including grain, corn and soy) is used. So this is food that could have been eaten directly by humans. That is why Plenty Food never collects money for cows or pigs, but only for more efficient vegetable projects that can feed more mouths.
From the same amount of land 1 person can eat animal products, or 5 to 10 people can eat vegetable food.
