Day 1: Chengdu Arrival

Day 2: Visit pandas

In the morning we visit the Panda Breeding and Research Center, about 10 kilometers north from central Chengdu. Strolling along the bamboo walkways, we discover the pandas at their most active. Feeding is around 9:30. The nursery is where we get the chance to see some baby pandas, and learn about the breeding and conservation programs.

After lunch we go to Chengdu People's Park to explore the local culture of the area.

Kuan-Zhai Lane (or Wide and Narrow Alley) is next; an ancient street where you can discover the old Chengdu mixed with the more modern. Not to be missed is the Qing Dynasty (1636–1912) style buildings.


Day 3: The Giant Buddha

This morning we drive to Leshan City, which takes about two hours. After a short break and lunch, we will begin our journey to the Giant Buddha, which takes about 10 minutes.

The Giant Buddha was cut from the rock in the Tang Dynasty and took 90 years to complete. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it is on Lingyun Mountain where Min River, Qingyi River, and Dadu River meet. The sitting Buddha statue is 71 meters high and the largest in the world. After climbing to view of the Giant Buddha, we also go on a cruise to take another look and photos.


Day 4: Mount Emei

We spend a full day visiting Mount Emei, another UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the four famous Buddhist mountains in China. At the entrance we take a public sightseeing bus, which takes us to the Monastery of Ten Thousand Years in 30 minutes. We can hike to the top or choose to jump on a cable car for a more relaxig trip.

The Monastery of Ten Thousand Years is the largest and oldest monastery on Mount Emei. Passing through Qingyin Pavilion, we wander through a sub-tropical forest, reaching a waterfall. Continuing through the valley Yixiantian (A Glimmer of Sky), wel arrive at the Monkey Eco-Area to meet some piquant monkeys. From here we take a public bus back to the entrance. The whole journey takes around 3 to 3½ hours. We then head back towards Chengdu.


Day 5: Anren Ancient Town

The buildings in Anren Town are with the distinctive West Sichuan style and well preserved, and some of them have been turned into museums.


Day 6: Mount Qingcheng

Today we drive to Mount Qingcheng. Laojun Pavilion is located on the highest peak, which is known as Pengzu Peak 1,260 meters. We can visit Tianshi Cave, the n crossing the Fangning Bridge, visitors will arrive at the Zushi Palace.
